At UC, Things are Looking Up

Scotch Plains, NJ The next big "WOW" is happening at UC. An elevator will be installed in our building. Preliminary work is underway with the majority of construction scheduled during the summer.

The elevator is a dream-come-true for retired Assistant Principal Michael Marotti. Mike was the heart and soul of Union Catholic, devoting himself to UC for 34 years as a teacher and administrator, followed by 8 more years as a member of the School Consultative Board. His dedication to our students will long be remembered. Mike was incredibly disappointed when he had to turn a student away from UC because the child used a wheelchair. At that moment, Mike vowed that, one day, UC would be accessible to everyone. He founded an elevator fund with the gifts he received upon his retirement in 2003 and that fund has continued to grow, culminating in the upcoming elevator installation.

The elevator will be located just left off of the main lobby, across from the Health office. It will open on the second floor onto the Tradition Meets Tomorrow Hallway. When you are visiting school, you will see the construction signs at the work site. Track our progress using our timeline on this monumental UC happening.
